I am also a police officer in the lifestyle, and, like you, initially had some doubts about telling people what I do. I finally just say "I'm in Law Enforcement" and leave it at that. To date, I have not have a negative reaction, so it seems to be working.

Since we have been in the lifestyle, we have met many, and we do mean many, Police Officers, Firemen, Teachers, Nurses, Doctors, and other people that could be percieved as a risky occupation to be in the lifestyle.
