Great article! Our closest friends are almost entriely from the lifestyle. In fact, we have found that this (for us) is much more about friendship than sex. Sure, sex is in there and it's great, but the friendships we've formed are far better and longer lasting.

We can't say that our closest friends are lifestylers, but the relationships we've forged with couples in the lifestyle seem deeper than others of equal longevity. As the author of the previous comment indicated, it's really the friendship aspect that sets our closest lifestyle friendship apart from their merely sexual counterparts.

When we relocated a couple of years ago, we met some great couples in our new home city. In large part, they helped us to acclimate to our new environs. Admittedly, we met these couples on lifestyle sites so there was a sexual aspect to our friendship from the beginning. However, much to our initial surprise, it was the couples with whom we spent non-sexual time that became our confidantes.

Movies, dinners, museums, outdoor activities, we had many great outings together, and sometimes they ended up in a bed and sometimes not. Our point is that any relationship--lifestyle or not--is deepened by a variety of ties. We respect every couple with whom we've played, but the ones we can truly regard as friends are the ones we have spent the most time with out of bed.
