This month, Kasidie Labs playtested a new product that combines these two pastimes into one: The OhMiBod Music Powered Vibrator, the world's first iPod compatible sex toy. Being a fan of both music and orgasms, our lovely Kasidie lab assistant, Melissa, was more than happy to playtest the OhMiBod.

The first thing you'll notice about the OhMiBod is the packaging. The OhMiBod was created by Suki, who previously worked in product marketing for Apple. So it's no surprise that the box design seems like it would be more at home on the shelves of your local Apple store than a sex shop. The package contains the OhMiBod vibrator, a 3-foot cord, an optional cap for using the vibrator without an iPod, a headphone splitter and a pink velvety pouch for storage. You'll have to provide 2 AA yourself.

In keeping with the 'Apple-esque' design, the vibrator has a sleek minimalist look with a chrome base. The model we tested was the OhMiBod G-Spot Vibrator, but various other shaped shafts as well as sheaths are available for purchase.

To use the OhMiBod, you plug the audio splitter into your iPod (or any music device with a headphone jack), plug your headphones into one side and the vibrator into the other. Then just put the headphones in your ears, the OhMiBod between your legs, crank up some music and enjoy.

The strength and speed of the OhMiBod's vibration is dependent on the beat of the music you are listening to. Our lab assistant discovered pretty quickly that certain types of music work better than others. Music with lots of vocals tended to cause inconsistent vibes. Music with lots of beats and bass, like techno or trance, tended to work best. So, ironically, the song "Good Vibrations" won't provide you with particularly good vibrations. Our assistant also noted that she had to crank the volume all the way up if she wanted to get a really strong vibration. So depending on your sensitivity to noise and how strong you like your vibes, you may go deaf trying to achieve an orgasm.

Using the OhMiBod is a very different experience than using a regular vibrator, and one that might take some girls a little getting used to. Girls looking to just "O and Go" quickly are likely to get frustrated since you are essentially giving over control of the speed and strength of your vibrator to whichever musical artist is playing at the moment. But if you're willing to put aside the time to relax, close your eyes and let yourself go, the OhMiBod can provide you with a really wonderful and unique sexual experience. Our lab assistant described it like being at her own personal rave, with her clit pressed against the subwoofer.

The added interactivity is really what sets the OhMiBod apart from other vibrators and adds to it's fun. In keeping with the Apple spirit that inspired it, the OhMiBod even has an online community. By going to Club Vibe, OhMiBod users can download music and hear suggestions from other users for songs that create particularly good vibes. There are even a selection of DJs who are particularly compatible with the OhMiBod.
