Swingers Helped Put Obama in Contention

Kasidie.com chronicles fateful evening at a swingers club & the impact on today’s politics.

(Denver, CO - April 2, 2008) Barack Obama may have won his US Senate seat, at least in part, with the help of swingers, contends an eyewitness account of a 1997 swinger's event in New Orleans, Obama's Success Linked to Swinger's Club, just published on the online swinger magazine and social network, Kasidie.com.

Republican Jack Ryan, who in 2004 was the lead challenger in the race to replace retiring Illinois Republican Senator Peter Fitzgerald, was forced to withdraw from the race after the Chicago Tribune revealed he and his wife had attended swingers' parties.

"In Europe, where sexuality is viewed with a more relaxed attitude, this probably wouldn't have mattered," said Scott Purcell, Kasidie's Publisher, “but in the United States the values are reversed. A politician who is comfortable with his or her sexuality is scandalous, and in this case forced Mr. Ryan to resign his campaign.”

Suddenly, an election that had once seemed like a sure thing for the Republicans was lost in the largest defeat in Illinois history. The winner of the election, with over 70% of the vote, was Democrat Barack Obama.

“This situation where peoples' negative view of sexuality overwhelms the fundamentals about someone's ability to lead is, to us," he continued, "a very sad statement about our country. Although the gay community, in particular, has made tremendous strides in changing public attitude, it's obvious that we still have a long way to go.”

The article, which appears in the webzine's April edition, gives an eyewitness account of the New Orleans swinger party attended by Mr. Ryan and his ex-wife seven years before his Senate campaign. Prior to the Chicago Tribune examining the records of his divorce from actress Jeri Ryan, who is famous for playing the character “7 or 9” on Star Trek Voyager, Jack Ryan was a popular and inspirational candidate who was often compared with former President John F. Kennedy. An Ivy League-educated financier who left it all behind to dedicate his life to public service. He described his Senate campaign as being “about happiness... not only happiness for yourself but happiness in making other people fulfilled in their own lives.” And in the blink of an eye, something from his life that occurred almost a decade ago ended his candidacy.

“There are 25 million swingers, and they vote in both parties,” Purcell said. “and while we cannot condone public intolerance affecting anyone's lives, we are pleased that we have a candidate who has vowed to bring about real change in Washington – that's something we can all get on board with!" And, no, Obama is not a swinger. Nor, to our knowledge, has he ever visited a swingers club. But thanks to the escapades of his 2004 opponent, he now may have a chance to change the world.
